Karnataka Athletic Association is the official body for running and managing athletics in Karnataka and is affiliated with the Athletics Federation of India. The association organizes the State Championship and trains the athletes for Various National Competitions held across India by AFI. KAA selects the State Athletics Teams for various national competitions and conducts the State Championships for various age categories. It has conducted various national-level championships, Besides, the KAA conducts State championships and various meets to promote the sport and popularize it among the people and make athletics commercially attractive for the further growth of the athlete and the sport. The Association also supervises and assists its district units in their activities, plans and sets up special coaching camps, and takes initiatives for development programmes and grass root promotion of athletics in Karnataka. Karnataka Athletics Association started in the year 1951 in the name of Mysore State Amateur Athletics Association under the Presidentship of Mr.Chandy, IPS, First Police Commissioner of Bangalore City as President and Mr. A.R.Chickapapaiah as Hon. Secretary. In 1954 the State Association’s name was changed to KARNATAKA ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION as per the new name of the state. The Association is registered under Registrar of Societies vide Reg.No: 514/74-75
